This collection contains a master card index of veterans who served with the United States military (mostly during World War I)  and they or their heirs made pension, insurance, or benefit claims, handled by the Veterans Administration, between 1917 and 1940. The cards include personal details such as names, date of birth, date of death, place of residence at the time of enlistment, dates of enlistment and discharge and military information such as rank, unit, and branch of service.
